Caspian Nixie Tube Clock

Handmade from a sandwich of layers of brass and walnut

The clock is named after the Caspian sea, as there was once a clock called the Pacific that used giant Z568M tubes – this one is just 18cm long but has the same proportions though.

About this unique item

Made from a sandwich of layers of brass and walnut, the ‘Caspian’ clock. A beautiful little clock that will suit a desk or bedside table. Has 6 of the pretty little Dolam LC531 tubes with a gentle orange Led underneath.

Lots of novel features, one of which the original decimal points in the tubes are untilised to scan back and forth – think knight rider, but used as a neon pendulum while the clock is running.

The clock is named after the Caspian sea, as there was once a clock called the Pacific that used giant Z568M tubes – this one is just 18cm long but has the same proportions though.

All the functions are controlled from a single rotary encoder on the rear, everything from brightness to setting the time and date.

One of a kind extraordinary timepiece

About the Designer
Bespoke Nixie Tube Clocks by Paul Perry

Bad Dog Designs - United Kingdom

Paul Parry founder of Bad Dog Designs creates clocks from nixie tubes, the cold cathode components which used to serve as displays in test equipment, industrial machinery, medical and military equipment.

As there are only so many nixie tubes left in the world, there are only so many clocks to be made. At some point supplies will run out, but until that day Bad Dog Designs is helping to keep the nixie cathode glowing – and who knows, as their rarity increases then the exclusivity of Paul’s products could eventually make them priceless!

Paul has already been commissioned to make timepieces for specific customers, such as the Gemini clock for a dental practice in Singapore, and received enquiries from the Dr Who fanclub, employees of Disney and Apple and Steampunk fans.
